He viscut massa temps com si fos un altre home, i tornar-me a trobar tal com sóc és espantós.

Les il·lusions duren poc. I el que fa més mal és adonar-te que no n'havies d'haver tingudes. 

Hay algunos libros que lees y, sin saber ni cómo ni por qué, se instalan en un pequeño hueco de tu corazón. Sin pedirte permiso, deciden quedarse pululando por tu mente durante una buena temporada.

Hay algunos libros que vienen y van.

Pues bien, Aloma es, para mí, un libro de los que se quedan.


Q U O T I N G: Les misérables (I)

Les misérables, de Victor Hugo, es uno de los mejores libros que he leído este año. Tengo una hoja llena de las frases que más me gustaron, y el libro está repleto de los fragmentos subrayados que más me llamaron la atención. Como son bastantes, he decidido dedicar dos entradas (quién sabe, quizá acaban siendo tres) a las frases que para mí han sido más interesantes de este libro.

Estos son los fragmentos que más me llamaron la atención de A portait of the artist as a young man, de James Joyce. Ha sido un libro que he disfrutado bastante. A medida que pasaba las páginas, me iba encariñando más y más con Stephen Dedalus, el protagonista, con el que me identifico en prácticamente todo.

Puedo asegurar casi con total seguridad que Stephen es uno de los personajes ficticios que más me ha gustado.

He thought that he was sick in his heart if you could be sick in that place.

He wondered had he been in her thoughts as she had been in his.

He recalled his own equivocal position in Belvedere, a free boy, a leader afraid of his own authority, proud and sensitive and suspicious, battling against the squalor of his life and against the riot of his mind.

What did it avail to pray when he knew that his soul lusted after its own destruction?

Was that boyish love? Was that chivalry? Was that poetry?

His eyes were dimmed with tears and, looking humbly up to heaven, he wept for the innocence he had lost.

He was destined to learn his own wisdom apart from others or to learn the wisdom of others himself wandering among the snares of the world.

He would create proudly out of the freedom and power of his soul, as the great artificer whose name he bore, a living thing, new and soaring and beautiful, impalpable, imperishable.

Q U O T I N G: El guardián entre el centeno

18.2.15


Éstas son algunas frases o fragmentos que más me gustaron de El guardián entre el centeno, de J.D. Salinger. No tengo realmente un libro favorito, pero El guardián entre el centeno es uno que me ha gustado mucho e intento releer siempre que puedo.

Espero que os gusten estas citas y, si no habéis leído aún este libro, que os animéis a hacerlo.

No me importa que sea una despedida triste o que sea una despedida desagradable, pero cuando me voy de un sitio me gusta saber que me voy. Si no, te da más pena todavía.

Los que de verdad me vuelven loco son esos libros que cuando acabas de leerlos piensas que ojalá el autor fuera amigo tuyo y pudieras llamarle por teléfono cuando quisieras.

Me paso la vida diciendo "encantado de haberte conocido" a personas que no me encanta nada conocer. Pero si quieres seguir vivo, tienes que decir esas cosas.

No tiene ninguna gracia ser cobarde. Aunque quizá no sea cobarde del todo. No sé. Creo que en parte soy cobarde y en parte soy de esos a los que les importa un rábano perder los guantes. Nunca me importa mucho perder nada, una cosa que sacaba de quicio a mi madre cuando era un crío. Hay tíos que se pasan días enteros buscando algo que han perdido. Yo creo que nunca tengo nada que me importe mucho perder. Quizá por eso sea en parte cobarde.

Ciertas cosas deberían seguir siendo como son.

¿Quién quiere flores cuando ya se ha muerto? Nadie.

Tiene gracia. Sólo tienes que decir algo que no se entienda para que todos hagan practicamente lo que quieras que hagan.

Pero lo que quiero decir es que montones de veces no sabes qué es lo que te interesa más hasta que empiezas a hablar de algo que no es lo que más te interesa.

No cuenten nunca nada a nadie. Si lo hacen, empezarán a echar de menos a todo el mundo.
